Shannon grew up in the suburbs of DFW but is more at home in the Texas Hill Country where she has lived with her SA-native husband, daughter, and 2 dogs since 2014. She graduated with honors from UT Austin in 2000 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. Shannon went on to receive her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2002 and has practiced in a variety of settings including acute hospital and woundcare, outpatient, neurorehab, skilled nursing, and small private practices including a lymphedema clinic. She became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) through the rigorous Dr. Vodder School in 2010 after being diagnosed with primary lymphedema herself in her right leg while training for a marathon, and in 2024 became LANA certified through the Lymphology Association of North America. While she enjoys helping others live well with their lymphedema and does her best to manage her swelling on a daily basis, she found her true passion along her own healing journey and by supporting her patients through the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach (MFR) which addresses the whole person and mind/body complex in order to address fascial restrictions caused by trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures. The year 2020 was a challenging year for so many, including herself, and she decided to turn lemons into lemonade! She obtained her massage therapy license from RiverCity Massage School in San Antonio to focus more on health and wellness in order to bring MFR and manual lymphatic drainage directly to her clients without the need for a referral from a healthcare provider (which is required for her limited direct access physical therapy license in Texas). Shannon started her PT career working for a very large hospital system in a big city, but truly thrives in giving you the best possible one-on-one care in a much smaller and more personal setting in order to help your life BLOOM!
